Well done to all the Wizards who arrived in Raleigh and enjoyed a weekend of futbol and camaraderie. I am extremely proud of how both teams performed, especially the open team. They came together for the weekend, having never played together as a team and played in the toughest bracket in the cup. The Spanish league champions who had not lost a game in a year and the two year defending champions, Queen Park Rangers (Carlisle's old club), where two teams in their bracket. The wizards failed to be intimidated and rose to the occasion and gave both those teams more game than they wanted or expected.
The Old boys played well and where disappointed we could not pull out the victory on Sunday, as we where the better team, but had to settle for a draw and just short on points to put us thru to the final.
The mood of the weekend was upbeat and relaxed and it was a great experience that we will definitely do again in the spring for the Charleston Memorial Day tournament. Next years state cup I know that teams will not take us lightly and we will be better prepared to compete for the hardware in each division we enter. Thank you to you all for participating and those of you who did all the work to get us there. Most of all thank you all, for your Wizard pride and competitive nature, it made for a great weekend, the first of many to come.......
Look for an up coming report from our own wordsmith, Mr. Vokerrbulary himself, and I believe the Clubs leading scorer, Mike Kerr.
See you all on the pitch,
Cheetah
